Hurricane Harvey- Virtus Relief Fund


Dear Valued Employees,

As Hurricane, now Tropical Storm Harvey made it’s way to land over the weekend, Houston, Austin, and many other areas in and around Central Texas experienced very high winds and record setting flooding and rain over the past several days and may see more.  Many members of our Virtus Family in Houston, Austin and surrounding areas, are experiencing power outages as well as poor internet connectivity.    As has been communicated consistently throughout this catastrophic event, employee security and safety is of the utmost importance to us and we want to hear from you.  David Arbogast has been the Lone Ranger at our headquarters and our IT team members have been providing around the clock tech support to employees in need of technical assistance.   As you know this is month end and a large faction of our GAA and IT teams have been away from their homes in Dallas throughout this ordeal in order to ensure with work productivity.  So many of our valued employees and clients have continued to email and extend support to help in any way possible — from Austin to London to NYC to Dublin.  The outpouring from all of you has been heartwarming and is a true testament to what a great group of people we have working at Virtus and we just want to say Thank You.

We want to hear from you and hear your stories.  We want to know that you are doing okay and if you are not, please let us know what we can do to help by sending an email to hurricanharveyrelief@virtusllc.com .  We do not offer help as a token, we mean we really want to help our employees through this devastating event.  The Partners and all management team members are setting up a fund to assist our employees during this time.  We are initially funding this effort with a budget of $50,000.  Over the next few days, we will circulate additional details for employee assistance and the application process that will be coordinated through our Executive and Management team members.

If you have been displaced OR evacuated, please reach out and let us know how we can assist at this time.  We have staff located throughout the state standing ready to assist those in need.  We will begin a drive in our Austin office today for supplies that will be brought to the Houston area this week.  If you know of a co-worker, colleague that needs assistance please let us know by sending us an email with details and any suggestions for assistance to hurricaneharveyrelief@virtusllc.com

We would be remiss if we did not provide an opportunity for our colleagues, vendors and employees across the globe to aid our city that is in so much peril at this time.  This is also a great opportunity for each of us to reach out and help our fellow co-workers, so we will be coordinating other necessity drives in the upcoming days.  If you wish to volunteer your time and talent to assist those in need, we will be providing you with those opportunities in the upcoming days and weeks as we know this is going to be a long-term hurdle to overcome.

As we witness the devastation that has unfolded in Houston and along the Texas gulf coast, we take stock in our blessings and are thankful for things being as well as they are.  We hope that you and yours are now safe and dry and we join together in sending our best wishes for our fellow Texans who were far less fortunate than us during Hurricane Harvey.
